Employee Spotlight: Meet Jessica Volker

Answering Service Care’s Director of Business Development, Jessica Volker, has been with the company for almost 15 years. Over the last decade and a half, she’s worn many hats and has thrived in roles where she helps small businesses grow. Below she discusses what she enjoys most about her job, as well as her hobbies and interests outside of work.

What is your role at Answering Service Care?

I am the Director of Business Development.

How long have you been with the company?

Answering Service Care was my first job back in 2006! In my 14 years with the company, I have had the pleasure of experiencing a variety of different roles. I started as an Operator and worked in the Quality Assurance, Training, and Sales departments before being promoted to my current role.

What is your favorite part of your job?

My favorite part of my job is providing solutions to small business owners. I love following up with them and hearing about how they have benefitted from using our service. Recently I had a customer share with me that his business has grown thanks to us answering all his calls. Not only is he now able to service more customers, but he has also gotten numerous compliments on the professionalism and friendliness that our operators demonstrate.

Have you learned any important lessons while working here?

I have learned many valuable lessons about patience, empathy, adaptability, and effective communication (to name a few) while working here. Answering Service Care has really helped shape me in not only my professional career but also as a person.

What are you most excited about in the upcoming months?

I am looking forward to doing a little bit of remodeling in my home. I plan on adding some accent tile in the guest bathroom and completely redoing the master bathroom.

Where are you originally from?

I was born and raised here in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, but both my parents are Mexican. I absolutely love the culture and the amazing food. Tacos al pastor are my all-time favorite Mexican dish, although there are so many other delicious dishes to choose from.

What is something people may not know about you?

I am a great cook if I do say so myself.  Mexican, Asian, Mediterranean, Italian- you name it I can make it. I especially love making all types of pasta. I make a mean lasagna and my carbonara is amazing!

What is something on your bucket list that you haven’t had a chance to complete yet?

A bucket list item that was abruptly canceled (thanks to COVID) was an island-hopping trip to the Greek Islands. We had everything planned out and were all set to go. But then we were forced to cancel due to the pandemic. I am looking forward to going there one day when everything goes back to normal.
