Call Forwarding Instructions

This is a cheat sheet for Spectrum customers looking to direct their incoming calls to an answering service. Let’s walk through the various ways you can set up call forwarding on your Spectrum phone—whether it’s general call forwarding, no answer, or when busy forwarding. With call forwarding you will never miss an important call—and always help customers when they need it the most.

Important: Activate Call Forwarding

First, go online to your Spectrum user portal here and set up your account to allow call forwarding. To forward your incoming calls to a specific number, select the option that best suits your needs—whether you need 24/7 service or only when you’re unable to answer the phone. Remember to save your changes after you’re done setting up your account.

Once you have enabled call forwarding on your user portal, you can complete the following steps to set it up for your business phone:

Unconditional (Always) Call Forwarding:

  1. Lift the receiver on your business phone and dial *72.
  2. After you hear the dial tone enter the 10-digit number provided to you by your answering service.
  3. Wait for the confirmation announcement and then the feature is activated for all future calls.

No Answer Call Forwarding:

  1. Lift the receiver on your business phone and listen for the dial tone, then press *92.
  2. Once you hear the dial tone, enter the 10-digit phone number where you are forwarding your calls and press the # key.
  3. Wait for the confirmation announcement and then the feature is activated for all future calls.

Busy Call Forwarding:

  1. Lift the receiver on your business phone and listen for the dial tone, then press *90.
  2. Once you hear the dial tone, enter the 10-digit phone number where you are forwarding your calls and press the # key.
  3. Wait for the confirmation announcement and then the feature is activated for all future calls.

Selective Call Forwarding:

  1. Lift the receiver on your business phone and listen for the dial tone, then press *63.
  2. Enter the 10-digit phone number you want to add to the list and press “Dial.”
  3. Wait for the confirmation and then the feature is activated for all future calls from the specified number.

…or add numbers through the Spectrum website:

  1. Login to your Customer User Portal on the Spectrum website.
  2. Navigate to the Calling Features tab and scroll down to Call Forwarding Selective.
  3. From this menu, you’ll be able to add a number by selecting “Edit.”
  4. Enter the desired phone number or extension and check the “Active” box to turn on your call forwarding feature.

Keep in mind that some answering services may have specific requirements or limitations with their call forwarding capabilities. So make sure to always check with them to be certain they can take forwarded calls. An important note: before using the forwarding option for customer calls, always make sure it works as you expected.
